After few days spent studying the theory we have started with some experiments.

Our first tests were successful, we have two videos showing these tests, they are on youtube where you'll find all others videos for this serie of article.

For these first tests we decided to use everyday objects, really the Bill Of Materials is very simple and it is very simple to find each part.

The BOM

  • A paper plate
  • A computer fan
  • A computer power supply
  • Glue

Paper plate

The paper plate is a fantastic support for our tests. It weighs about 7 grams and its shape is like a skirts on a real hovercraft.

The fan

Then we have taken the fan from an old PC, the fan is the 12V fan shown in the following picture, it weighs about 15 grams.

We have opend a circular hole on the basis of the paper plate and then we have attacked the fan with the glue.

Last we have connected the fan to the power supply, and here you are the results:

There is no friction between the paper plate and the ground.
