With the last update of the Mac OS X operating system, named Mavericks, Apple provide the capability to build your own installer flash disk in a very simple way.


The Bill Of Materials
A USB Flash Drive (at least 8GB)
A Mac with at least Mac OS X 10.6.8 operating system.

How to proceed

  • Go to AppStore and download Install OS X Mavericks.app
  • Format the USB Flash Drive as "Mac OS Extended (journaled)" – The "Disk Utility" App can do the work.
  • Open a Terminal Window
  • Into the terminal window run the following command:

 $ /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia –volume /Volumes/Untitled –applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app –nointeraction


Now you can use your USB Flash Drive to install Mavericks on other Mac's.
