I've just downloaded the latest release of Ubuntu from Ubuntu.com (685,3 MB iso file).

To install it on my notebook (HP 6730s) I moved the iso on a USB pendrive using the tools inside the iso, so I didn't need to burn a CD. Then I inserted the USB pendrive into a USB port of my notebook and rebooted the system.

First of all , the next release of Ubuntu will change its names:

  • Ubuntu Netbook Edition and Ubuntu Desktop Edition have been combined into a single Edition called simply "Ubuntu" (with no "Edition").
  • Ubuntu Server Edition has been renamed to simply "Ubuntu Server" (again, the "Edition" has been dropped).

Simply add the following line to /etc/modprobe.d/wlan.conf

options iwlcore led_mode=1
